While I figured that this was inevitable, I don't like that investors are dictating to team leaders who to run in their cars.

I understand that there are pay drivers and money moving things behind the scenes, but in all the years that I've been following the sport I don't remember anything this blatant.

The Hulk was almost guaranteed to be dropped from Sauber, despite his performances, Sauber's Russian investors have been pushing for Sergey Sirotkin to get a seat.
and they couldn't really drop Esteban Gutierrez without risking sponsorship loss from Carlos Slim.

Just because it isn't known to us doesn't mean it hasn't been going on. People are paid and people who know that are paid to keep quite as well. If everyone's pockets are getting filled then no one is going to step out and confront the issue. To most of them it probably isn't the issue, because as of late it seems like all of F1 is brainwashed to think that this is the only way and the way of the future.
Next thing you know F1 will fund the development of cloning and genetic engineering so they can breed the best driver.
